Pandemonium! is a platform video game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Crystal Dynamics for Playstation. It was relased in North America in October 1996, in Europe in November of the same year and in Japan in February 1997. Subsequently, the game was also released for Sega Saturn, Microsoft Windows, N-Gage, mobile and iOS.

Pandemonium! renders polygons in a typical 3D fashion, but the game action is 2D. The area of gameplay is as a two-dimensional surface twisting and bending in a three-dimensional world. Occasionally however, there are also segments where the path branches, allowing the player to choose their course. The game also features many elements of traditional platformers, such as the ability to kill enemies by jumping on their heads and a password system to save your progress.

The game features Fargus, a joker, and Nikki, an acrobat, who have unwittingly cast a spell that destroys the town and must now reach the Wishing Engine to return things to normal, traveling across the lands of Lyr. The game is divided into different levels to be played in succession and in each level it is possible to play as one of two characters, each of which has a special ability. A sequel to this game, Pandemonium 2, was released in 1997 for PlayStation and Microsoft Windows.

Plot[edit]

In the land of Lyr, the jester Fargus and the acrobat Nikki, tired of their carnival life, hear about a "Wizard in Training Seminar" held by Tony Vu, the Worldly One and decide to participate, to become magicians. However, the seminar turns out to be boring and rambling, so the two, during a break, steal Tony Vu's magic book and escape to the top of a tower, above the village. Here Nikki and Fargus, using the book, have fun performing some simple tricks, but then end up summoning a huge monster, Yungo, which swallows the entire village. The two then consult the book in an attempt to find a solution and learn that the only way is to reach the Wishing Engine and obtain a wish. There is also a map to reach the place. Here the adventure begins.
